About Nothing But Nette

The story, the mission, the heart behind it all.

Her Story

Nette's Story

Lynette “Nette” Newsome was a woman whose love could fill a room, a table, or a heart. She lived her life doing for others — whether that meant cooking a meal for a neighbor, cheering on a kid at a game, or simply showing up when someone needed her.

Going the Distance for Good is how we keep her spirit alive. It's more than a race — it's a community coming together to run, walk, and make a difference in the way Nette always did: with heart.

Every dollar raised supports youth sports for kids who might not otherwise have the chance to play. Every can collected helps local schools keep students nourished over breaks and holidays.

We believe every kid should get to play sports and every family should have enough food. It's that simple.

“When we show up for each other, good things happen.”

Why We Do It

Our Mission

Inspire Movement

Inspire families to move together for a cause

Support Youth Sports

Provide financial and equipment support for under-resourced youth athletes

Feed Students

Help local schools keep students nourished through our canned food drive

Build Community

Bring together schools, local businesses, and families to make a difference

Do good. Be good. That's what Nette wanted us to do, and that's what this is all about.

The Mission

The Nothing But Nette Fund

Proceeds from the event launch the Nothing But Nette Fund, helping local kids get in the game all year long. Through partnerships with schools and youth organizations, the fund will:

  • Cover registration fees for sports programs
  • Provide gear or equipment to students who need it
  • Sponsor local teams where kids need it most

Each spring, teachers and coaches nominate students who show enthusiasm and potential but face financial barriers. Our goal is to help at least 50 kids play sports they couldn't otherwise afford.
